What Would The World
Look Like Without Bees?

A project with great social media impact, “The Silence Of The Bees” that we worked on in collaboration with GIZ North Macedonia back in 2020. With our fast-paced lifestyles we often fail to appreciate the small things. We consume foods and drinks and enjoy the abundant variety of seasonal produce in our region. But who do we have to thank for this abundance and variety?

The Silence of The Bees 1

Let’s Keep The
Bees Buzzing.

Bees help the reproduction of the plants, fruits and vegetables we eat on a daily basis. With this video, we wanted to imagine what our future would look like if there were no more bees. So, we made a few changes and designed a special menu in some of the most popular food and drink joints and we gave a few visitors quite the surprise.

We tested three things: change in quantity by giving the customers tiny amounts of the product they ordered; change in content, by giving them bizarre recipes, and lastly, change in price, which was the most effective approach. You can lower quantity, destroy taste, but don’t even think about increasing the price.

The second half of our video sets the tone for the final conclusion and message we wanted to convey. If there were no more bees, the world would be a grim place. Our diets would be different, we would face food shortages, and a serious price increase. The most important conclusion we pointed out in the video was that one in each of the three daily meals we consume is available to us thanks to the bees.

The video made a great social media impact, completely organically. It had more than 1500 shares and reached over 300.000 people on Facebook. All that, without a single penny invested in paid promotion.

This video was part of the project “Support to Economic Diversification of Rural Areas in South East Europe (SEDRA)”, financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, BMZ and implemented by GIZ.
